Windows 95 Driver Installation for Asante PCI Adapter
=====================================================
This section explains how to install the driver to use your AsanteFAST
10/100 adapter with Windows 95. The instructions require that you have
previously installed Windows 95 on the computer without installing a
network adapter or driver.
Note: The AsanteNIC-PCI adapter is a plug-and-play module with Windows 95;
no separate driver installation is needed. After inserting the
AsanteNIC-PCI adapter into your computer, Windows 95 will automatically
detect and install the proper driver for use with it (in this case,
PCI Ethernet DECchip 21041 Based Adapter).
The Windows 95 installation disks or CD is needed to complete this installation.
1. Power on the computer without the adapter plugged in, then start Windows
95.
2. Insert the Asante Driver Disk into floppy drive A and run the PCISETUP.EXE
program from the Windows 95 Run command.
This prepares your system for AsanteFAST 10/100 adapter installation.
3. Shut down Windows 95, then power off the system.
4. Insert the adapter into the PCI slot, then power on the system and start
Windows 95.
When Windows 95 starts, a "New Hardware Found" window appears.
Note: If the "New Hardware Found" window does not appear, you need to
configure the adapter using the Add New Hardware wizard in the
Windows 95 Control Panel.
5. Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer", then click
OK.
6. Insert the Asante Driver Disk in drive A when prompted, then click OK.
A dialog box appears requesting Windows 95 system network files.
Note: If you have not installed a network adapter on the computer before,
Windows 95 may prompt you to enter the computer name and workgroup
name.
7. Insert the Windows 95 CD and enter the drive name D:\WIN95, as appropriate.
8. Click OK.
9. Remove the disk from the computer.
10. Click Yes to restart the system.
